Elk Grove Quilt Guild

Opportunity QuiltThe Elk Grove Quilt Guild was founded in 1998. The purpose of the Guild is to preserve the heritage of quilting, promote cooperation and exchange of ideas among those persons interested or engaged in quilting, further the education and skill levels of the members, share the spirit of friendship, and contribute to the welfare of the community.

The guild participates in the community with quilts made by members and donated to various recipients. We gave out over 135 quilts last year. The guild produced larger quilts which were distributed to St. John's Homeless Shelter, Mary's House, and to the County of Sacramento for young people who are discharged from the Foster Care System.  The guild also sewed and donated 196 Christmas stockings for area foster children and numerous pillowcases for children in the Shriners' Hospital.

The guild meets every third Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Elk Grove, located at 8939 E. Stockton Blvd, Elk Grove, CA 95624. Meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. with social hour beginning at 6:30 p.m. Various speakers are brought in to lecture and teach throughout the year. Guests are welcome, and when meetings include speakers or lectures, a small fee of $3 is asked of visiting guests.
