Location: Elk Grove, CA
Shape: Circle
Duration:8 - 10 seconds |
Four round, lit craft flyhing in a low, v formation over Elk Grove, Ca.
I am a 59 year old IT specialist. I have never seen and reported a UFO before. This is the 4th of July.
The fireworks ended about 9:50 PM (and were a long way away and not visible at all where we were due to the height of the houses and the distance to the fireworks (2 to 3 miles).
At 10:25 PM, I was in the pool with my girlfriend and I was looking up at the sky saying how great it is in California to see meteorite showers and other such things in the night sky because the sky is always clear in the summer in California (as opposed to Illinois where I lived all my life (58 years) until this past October).
Just after I stated how clear it was and almost "on cue", four round, glowing objects came into my line of sight out of the southwest, heading northeast. They seemed fairly small, and flying fairly low; similar to the altitude of a single engine plane flying low. They almost looked like four searchlights shining on a thin cloud, but the stars were out, and there was not a cloud in the sky. They were fairly dim, but brighter in the center, and rimmed with a soft glow around each. They were in a "v" formation, but there were three on the right, with one on the left. I am aware of the "v" shaped sightings that seem to be the underbelly lights of a larger craft.
These did not seem to be that since there was only one light on one side, and they were not flying slow.
They continued at a steady rate, much faster than any prop or jet plane would fly, and in a straight line. I watched for about 8 to 10 seconds from when they appeared in my line of sight until they went out of sight. I am not sure at this point, because they were not really visible, but they may have dispersed from the formation, because as I was watching the point where they went out of sight I caught a glimpse of a streak off to the northwest of where they disappeared that flashed for just a second.
After seeing them for 2 - 3 seconds and realizing they were somethin! g special, I pointed to them right in front of my girlfriend's! face and emphatically said, "Look! Look!", and she was able to see them for about 5 seconds or so. She has always been a scoffer and has made fun of me watching Ancient Astronauts and other UFO related shows on TV.
She was a little shocked, a little scared, and would love to tell someone what she saw. I think the incident changed her mind.
I hope we were not the only ones to observe this. I am thinking there were many people looking up at the time due to backyard fireworks |

They were probably just scoping out the neighborhood clean-up piles, trying to figure out what to take back to their planet for free. Even aliens like to scavenge!

Erin - too funny!
CarolMcE - I did not see this. In fact, I have never seen any flying object that wasn't explainable since I've been an adult. When I was a kid, however, I saw something strange. My mom and I were walking home from the store at dusk. Others were out walking, too. We looked up and saw strange lights come shooting up from the horizon to just over out heads in a phenomenally short time. The object then hovered over our heads, and then it took off at a 90 degree angle. An Air Force guy was one of the people out walking. He said he had never seen anything like it. That was my UFO experience.

Scully and Mulder in a hot tub on the 4th of July seeing lights in the sky isn't what I would call a credible UFO sighting especially over a densley populated area like Elk Grove. I'm not saying that it wasn't a UFO, I'm just saying that unless 10 other people say they saw it too I'm going to have to write it off as an aircraft of terrestrial origins.
One question, was alcohol or ....say something medicinal also involved in the hot tub sighting? We may never know...

Cooked brain from too HOT tub? I tried to see the advertised teapot part of Sagittarius below the gibbon moon last week but too much ambient light. The Milky Way was visible, but only if you were out of populated areas and have powerful telescope.
Waa waa.

This is a different sighting than the last one I posted (in the hot tub, bat-like craft). I cannot see stuff in the sky as I am 1/2 blind. The craft would have to be in my livingroom for me to see it. I don't know wether or not I personally believe, but a lot of people see these things because hundreds of them report them. Some are bogus and some seem real.
It is interesting to read the reports, especially when they occur in an area I'm familiar with.

@Carol-I have amblyopia (lazy eye) so in effect blind in one eye. I see a grey disc where direct vision should be. Itis especially apparent with binoculars. Some odd configurations result!
I have been to Blue Canyon with the Sacramento Valey Astronomical Society and viewed such beautiful configurations as the Milky Way with their powerful telescopes. I remember seeing Saturn and exclaiming 'it looks like a Spaghetti-O'.
Keep on gazing!

I am the one who posted the 4th of July UFO report. If anyone would like to contact me to see if I am "credible" please feel free. It was an absolutely clear and unmistakeable of these round, glowing orbs, that passed nearly overhead and flew in a straight line like an aircraft would... IE NO, they were not fireworks. I look online every once in a while to see if anyone else saw this because it is hard to believe that at about 10:30 PM, after the local fireworks were over (which we saw from driving on highway 99) and many eyes looking up, that NO ONE ELSE saw this. Maybe they did, but didn't report it. There were very few backyard fireworks heard at this time and no fireworks were seen from my backyard. Fireworks do not fly parallel to the ground in formation. That same night I looked up sightings on other sights and saw a picture of a craft that had 4 glowing engines underneath it and the angle of the picture aligned them in the same "formation" I observed, so I have since surmised that these "glowing, round globes" were most likely engines underneath a craft that was not visible in the dark sky. I would love to hear that others saw the same thing. Thanks.

What was left out the report was the high grade marijuana they were smoking while in the hot tub.

I thought my boyfriend had a fever when he said he'd seen 3 bright lights near Orion's shoulder the other night...So I researched.
An online home video showed the same thing...well folks...
PHOBOS-GRUNT, the Russian satellite in its decaying orbit can be seen for about 4 minutes in the night sky at about ?45 minute intervals .

Myson told me he saw a ufo on the way home from work. It looked like two headlights in the sky. I guided him to the MUFON report form, but he declined, thinking it would be "silly" and "probably a plane or something".
What he told me was not a plane and should have been reported, but IMHO maybe 1 out of maybe 100 UFO's are reported. After all, who looks up at the sky when they go outside? Too many ppl see them for them not to be real, but I have never seen one.

I have been looking into the sky day and night. I see many commercial and military aircraft, including seeing the afterburners burning high in the atmosphere. No UFO's yet.

I found some video on YouTube showing a UFO flying over hwy. 99 in Elk Grove last year. The video was shot by a man who pulled over on the freeway and appeared to be located by Laguna blvd.

I've seen a pair of what must have been meteors fly over my house several years ago...they were next to each other and moving FAST! I actually set KCRA meterologist a note about it...never heard back.

Keep on gazing Racer!!! There's a whole universe out there visible, and more we can't see!
There are various multiverse theories, in which physicists have suggested that our universe is one among many universes that likewise exist.[

UFO sightings generally crack me up. Most sightings include some sort of "engine" glowing. Could it be that aliens have engines very similiar to ours? Maybe they copied us!
When I see these posts I think of an old rock song:
"It's just my imagination once again."

@mw-yeah I was puzzled at boyfriend's sincerity. He's a very down to earth guy. He bought me a super telescope for Christmas-ohh, beautiful Moon.
Regarding the illumination-I saw the Space Shuttle dock with the International Space Station a few years bace. It was an historic occasion. NASA made it clear that the "lights" were NOT from either vehicle. They were the reflection of the sun....
About this Russian probe? Not sure but suspect the same!
However-once, when I was a teenager we flagged down CHP because we SWORE to sighting. Turns out it was one of those blimps with a rolling marquis.
o it was identified!

One thing I considered. Orion's left shoulder is Betelgeuse. It is considered a Red Super-Giant, and has its own nebula. So all that said, what he saw was the Russian spacecraft.

Yes, obviously a helicopter. The item following? My guess is some sort of firefighting water pickup? I doubt it is a trauma patient!

OK, you doubters, just for amusement, go to www.mufon.org and click on the left hand google map. Center the map of California and center on Elk Grove or Sacramento, and enlarge. UFO's will come raining down. These are archived reports for the area. I love reading them. The real goofy ones have already been sifted out, but the ones left are amusing enough.
