  My mother recently retired and has been bored to tears. She has found a new passion for cooking (and watching cooking shows). After a day of deliberation, we came up with the idea of joining a cooking club. The only downside, there is no cooking club (that we can find) in locally. So, what better way to get the idea out there and see who may be interested, that posting it on here! Here is our idea:

  Meeting once a month (may become theme orientated)

  Host to make main dish

  All other club members to bring side dishes or dessert

  Armed with recipe cards to exchange

   

  So what do ya think? Any takers??

  If you can't get enough takers, I believe there is a group in ELk Grove through www.meetup.com

  I was looking into something like this at one time.  I can't because of work, school &  child now.  I used to have a group of friends and we used to get together once a month and try new recipes.

  We did this years ago and had a blast. Hmmm, let me think on it. We did discover if we had more than 6 couples, it was too much. and I found out none of my friends liekd escargot....

  There is a group through MeetUp.com called Step Up to the Plate: Culinary Adventures that is largely Elk Grove based. We are 40-60 somethings, some couples, many singles. We have themed parties each month and potluck around the theme.

  We have 12-20 people, depending on the month.

  I think it would be fun to do a cooking party around the "Chopped" show mystery baskets.
