I Know this topic has been talked about before  but after one season of the new FC elk grove and the second year of tryouts for the younger teams what are the feelings about the changes from last year? Are the Families and Coaches that left to go to interage happy? Will Elk Grove everton stay alive noe that elk felk grove FC has neen accepted into NorCal's Playing league? What abour Wee Ball? How much does it cost to Play in Elk Grove FC. Why do Elk Grove better players Leave to play in Davis  Sac united or San Juan When the get older. Should things have stayed the way  they where with seasonal and year round being two clubs under elk grove youth soccer rather than one combined club?

I can speak as the parent of an older Inter Rage player (U16) - we have been there three years and we are very happy. We played with Everton (both before it was called Everton and afterwards) - without going into details, we prefer the Inter Rage experience.

It seems to me that soccer in EG is all about winning, development of the kids is secondary. Kids who move to other clubs are usually the one's who choose soccer as their main sport and see a future of playing at the highest level. Their are other established clubs outside of Elk Grove that truly focus on development first and foremost and follow a single philosophy, which is why we chose to move our children outside of EG. In EG, with the exception of Everton who follow the "Everton Way", there seems to be no single philosophy, just a bunch of coaches with their own agendas trying to win to "make a name for themselves". I put this in quotes because it is exactly what I was told when I asked the coach of an FC Elk Grove "A" team (comp soccer parents know what this means) what their philosophy was during tryouts. BTW, my child was made an offer by this team which we politely declined. We follow international soccer, read the blogs, articles, etc about the state of youth soccer in the US and why we are not as competitive
And one of the main differences between us and othe countries is that we focus too much on winning at a young age and not on player development. Our children are very happy with the club they chose to be at, they are mastering individual foot skills and are still extremely
competitive. We are very happy with the decision to play outside of Elk Grove.

The focus on winning often begins with parents. If you want more focus on players, then try comp. Parents who are spending hundreds of $$ and traveling every weekend are not doing so just to have fun, they want to win. The pressure to get kids into the comp/select atmosphere is getting younger and younger.

We are in our first year of comp soccer. My daughter is playing on a B team and the coaches main focus is footwork and passing. We have had 5 scrimmages to date and are 1-4. Our coach isn't looking for the win, rather he is focused on the passing game from the girls. I am happy my daughter is on her FC Elk Grove team as I feel she will receive the development training she needs and the focus is just that. As a parent it is hard when they lose, but when the coach comes up to us an complements the girls on the team play and passing it reassures me that winning is not the priority. The development of their soccer skills come first.

I have to agree with chia. There is a reason you see the top players in Elk Grove either playing for Everton or playing outside the area rather than playing for FC. If you think soccer is all about winning, then FC would be the place to be. If you really want to see your player develop and excel as a top soccer player playing at the highest level and getting tremendous exposure to college coaches, then Everton would be the choice if you stay in Elk Grove. My son is with Everton and we couldn't be happier with what the club is doing to train and develop the Everton players. He has played all levels of soccer in Elk Grove and there is no way I would ever send him to FC unless he just wanted to play for fun. Highest competitive level? Everton. Low to mid competitive level? FC.
