The fastest growing religious group in the country are Non-believers/Free Thinkers/ Atheist. Any other people in Elk Grove fit in this group? Wondering if there's a local gathering place. Thanks.

There used to be an informal group called The Skeptics Society of Elk Grove some few years ago. Very interesting folks, would meet for coffee and conversation monthly, but it kind of fell apart with some moving away and others' inertia about getting a meeting together. Maybe, if this thread picks up enough (positive) responses, it can get restarted.
As to what's going on in our area, Sacramento has many groups of Free-Thinkers and such; try Googling this: "sacramento free thinkers skeptics"; l got a virtually unending chain of references that give other references. I stopped nesting at 27 entries.
Maybe you've shaken a tree here in Elk Grove. I'll keep watch to see what happens. May even put my big toes in the water.

Hey there Ed! So glad to see you popped in too. I wondered if anyone else would. =o)

Love the courage of the girl in the article Normal! Very proud of her.

There is a Sacto Skeptic group that I get info about on FB but haven't gone yet. I miss our little EGO group, I'm in a better place to plan a visit to EG for the day (I live in Lincoln Normalfamily) now so would be in for coffee at La Bou or ???

LOL...it did huh? Was thinking about it when I saw this on HP, http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/21/grief-without-god-challenge-atheists_n_1285359.html?ref=religion

Fingers crossed that link posts. We could pick a date , place and a topic...or just plan on a free ranging discussion as usual...and start with 3. =o)

I nominate March 3rd or 10th (17th is out...wedding anniversary), La Bou on Elk Grove Blvd, 10am and at least touching on the two articles above. Please chime in and suggest other options if you want.

Oh...and referring to the link, I should have said I don't usually find it a challenge but totally get why some might.

Well - Sorry to have let the thread drop, but you know how us older folks are.
Obviously, March 3 has already appeared and I've other things scheduled, so that won't work.
I'm game for next Saturday, 3/10 at La Bou if there's any interest out there.
P.S.: Left PC a phone message yesterday (Friday) around 4. I hope all's well.

All is well Ed. Well except for my broken big toe. Might have to forgo shoes still next week and go for the comfort of slippers though. Hope you don't mind.

Thanks for asking...you maybe left a message on the cell? Which is in the glove box and obviously not much used. I didn't get a message at home. I don't think...maybe old timeritis got me!?! Nope I checked and no message from Ed. =o/

OK, the 10th, I'm in. I'll email Beez and LANative and ask if they'd like to join us. Anyone else?

    Ouch for your toe.
Only fone I have for you starts 622-, so I may be in your glove box. I've blocked out 3/10, 10 - 2, La Bou as tentative. It doesn't have to be here in Elk Grove - maybe somewhere closer to you? All is negotiable.

I need to go to EG and gather tax paperwork from the shop so will make that my plan for after coffee. So far looks like just the two of us for La Bou on EG Blvd @ 10am 3/10. =o)

I look forward to the pleasure of your company and maybe catch up on whatever news I've missed. 'Tis a shame that out of some 18,000 EGOL households there are none curious enough to be interested. Perhaps there will be lurkers at an adjoining table? "Inquiring minds want to know."
