Vicinity of Bruceville and Big Horn..... last night my son came home late around 11:00 and spotted 3 raccoons running around our yard.  They apparently hang out in the storm drains...  Please, please be sure NOT to leave cat food out or accessible to these little critters.  They are very smart and cute, but can pose problems.

My husband saw a family of raccoons when he was leaving for work at 4am one morning. It was two adults and 3 babies all coming out of a storm drain on Laguna Blvd and Laguna Park Drive.

I live off of Vinyard Rd-by the Wild Hawk Golf Course. Every time in the past 10 years that they have cleared fields for new construction, which they recently did, we see tons of dead raccoons and skunks. They just have no where else to go. The fields are their homes and we plow them down, They are lost and have no where else to go but to look for another safe home. It's really sad, as people forget that they live here too. :)

We are regularily visited by them. The house next door is empty - foreclosed - and back yard is full of fruit & oak trees. We keep cat food in the garage, and it's never out at night, the racoons have no problem coming through the kitty/doggy door to eat. Our dog's tangled with them - cuts, but no stitches (yet).

These critters occupy the sewer system and are abundant here in the Villas and Laguna. I am on a corner and regularly see momma and her kits looking out the drain opening. Sometimes they are seen directing traffic (see snoz post) but always retreat quickly. My cat tangled with one years ago (verified by a neighbor) and suffered quite the injury. I inquired; they can be trapped for a fee and relocated but I know the extended family will take their place. The fruit trees and other edibles are their diet.
