Wow, I just heard on the news-Belair is closing on Elk Grove Blvd, how sad.  I know elderly people that have shopped there for years....

So hard on some elderly residents who bought their home in a radius around this store knowing that someday they could walk to the store when they could no longer drive. Several homeowners on my street alone did just that.

Please come to Bel Air this Sunday morning to show support! I'll be there @ 7am and I will be there for many hours, so come after church too!!! The more people the better! I heard from 2 managers that the new owners of the shopping center have riased the rent & would not negotiate. Also, BelAir #'s are good, this holiday season, they exceeded what they were supposed to do, and in the last couple of months they are no longer in the red. If anything hundreds of people showing up would show the new owners how much we care!

Maybe we should consider the reason some of the Raleys/Bel Air stores are not so successful.  It's a different world now that it was 3-4 years ago.  We all know our economy sucks right now.  The stores that are successful are changing with the times.  People are looking to save money, for bargains.  Look at the parking lots at the competitor stores who do offer cost savings - they are full.  I was in a Bel Air recently and they had BF Mayonaisse on an end-cap with a special promo price of $5.49 for a quart.  Come on!  That was like a slap in the face.  I bought it down the road for $2.99.  Raley's/Bel Air stores need to wake up and compete in the market as it is today.

This story is small and doesn't have all my needs. But it is a shame that it's closing. I understand how it's a great walking store for those in the neighborhood. Perhaps another grocery chain would go there?

I agree with debster. Why would I spend $5.99 on a 12 pack of soda at Bel Air when I can get it for $2.99 at Target? I love the local Bel Air employees, and I would love to have them stay, but money is too tight to be paying double what I have to pay for the same item.

I know about prices-I can go across the street from Belair at the dollar store and shop for cheaper on many items. Maybe people could walk a little further to shop there.

I am so sad - I LOVE this store and 16 years have gone out of my way to patronize it. I am selective about what I purchase due to above mentioned higher prices on some items, but I have found some good deals there too and the employees are so nice.

I remember the Day that Belair opened, We had Belair and Lucky's and they replaced Mar-vel and the Elk Grove Market, Little Elk Grove sure has changed. I still Drive all the Way to that Belair from The Woods to shop there. I have a heavy heart over the closing of this store just like when we lost Mar-vel and Elk Grove Market.
